Google "solaron korean mink blanket". We brought one home from our last visit overseas but see them available online now. It's the warmest blanket I've ever slept under and every bit as good as our down comforter.

The nice thing about duvets is they are cozy and warm but lightweight.

I know you're asking for blankets recommendation but what works for me is actually flannel sheets. When I use regular cotton sheets, the bed is always very cold to touch and I've to use electric blanket to warm up the bed before I go to sleep. Now with the flannel sheets, the bed is no longer cold and sometimes in the middle of the night, I even find it a little too warm!

I still use the extra thick yarn afghan blanket my grandma made for me when I was a kid. 30 years old and still doing the trick!

The king size microplush blanket that I got at Big Lots for $20.00 has been great. We had 12 straight days and nights where the temp never got above freezing and I was toasty even with the thermostat at 50 degrees. I now have a couple more in the twin size for use when I'm kicked back in my recliner watching a movie or reading. Love 'em.

They are super soft too.

I like down comforters. You might be able to get one cheaper at overstock.com or smartbargains.com.

We have a blanket that we got from my mom and I think it is from Land's End. It is micro fleece on one side and a cotton blend or something on the otherside and it is filled with down (probably synthetic down). It is the WARMEST blanket ever. It gets well below zero here in MN in the winter and this blanket is almost too warm.

Another vote for flannel sheets...and a down comforter. You won't ever want to get out of bed!

Agree with this! And if you have the time to do it, run your blow dryer on the sheet before you get in! Yum yum yum yum yum! I do the blow dryer with my pajamas before I get into them, or throw them for a minute in the dryer. Glorious!!!!
