I have prewired surround sound for my house but after the removing the wall plate I see that cheap 22 gauge were used. It's also has a lot of tears in the cable. I want to replace the cable but when trying to pull the cable out, it feels as if they are stuck on something. How can I remove the cables without damaging my walls.

Have you even tried it yet?

Most people would not be classified as audiophiles and wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 22awg or 4awg. Besides, you didn't really think you were going to get Monster Cable did you?

If the installer did a good job of the prewire- they should be stapled to studs. That's why you can't pull on them!

Thanks but your reply doesn't answer my question of replacing the cables.

If they are stapled you can't expect to pull the new cable without damaging the walls or baseboards. Have you checked if they run in the attic or crawls space?

another thought: Are you sure those wires are dedicated speaker wires and not fish wires for whatever cable you want to pull up into there?
