Our final inspection failed and one of the item is because the drain pipe (nice looking one) is not US government certified. We bought the vanity online and it said US regulation compliance. My husband called them and they do not have any government document to proof that their vanity is complaince. What can we do now? Should we just go to HD to buy the certified pipe and replace it?
Is there any complication to replace it? We have 3 vanities and 2 of them are wall mount type. General Contractor was having issue to adjust the pipe position for the wall mount vanity and have to have plumber to come back and do it. Will plumber come for small project like this?
I just don't understand. If this thing is not certified. How can they sell it and it's not only selling at 1 sites. If you google, many stores are selling it.
The issue may be that it lacks the UPC/IAPMO marking ... see if you can get the data sheet proving that it does meet code. Often that would be sufficient for the inspector to pass it.
I asked my contractor today and he shows me where inspector has question. The link is not the vanity I have, but it's the same drain pipe. The question part is the elbow. The regular drain pipe is like U shape elbow, but this one does not shape as the regular. Inspector has concern of water staying in the bottom so that he wants to see the approval (compliance) document of the component.

Yes, a plumber would be happy to return. You just need your check book available.
This sounds like a appliance you requested and not the builder. Too often a owner needs to install general appliances to get the permit signed off, and replace later.
Nice looking sink but it looks like there is no trap - to keep sewer gas from coming back into the bathroom
That's what my contractor told me.
However, I just google it and found it is called bottle trap, but I have not yet found the data sheet for this kind of trap and how it prevent the sewer gas from coming back.
if you had a licensed plumber install it why not talk to him. They should not put in anything that does not meet code requirements in your area.It is vewry possible that the label was removed and the inspector is not upto snuff on plumbing.
