Default Bath to shower - what is it?

What do you call the thing you pull up to stop the bathwater and force it out the showerhead? And how do you replace it?

Never mind. I found it. Shower diverter, and I have to replace the spout.

Right. The "on faucet" diverter is by far the most common, though there are a few where it's part of the mechanism.

The good news is that, most likely, it's simply a matter of unscrewing the old faucet and replacing it with a new one. Remember... Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty. You'll do fine.

I've replaced a seal on those once but i guess the best approach is to replace the whole thing since youre already uninstalling the spout
