I'm a native Californian and lived in houston for 8 years and came back to california last year and i'm returning to Texas in August.
California is a train wreck right now and i will never return here except to visit my parents. Texas has a lot of great things to offer and if your from California and have children to raise I do not recommend returning here.

Good luck on your new journey! I left California back in 2001, for a better life. Went to Houston, great city with plenty of money and jobs.If you don't mind Humidity and heat and filthy beaches you will like it! I did return back to California last July and I will have to tell you nothing is like California! I am glad to be back home, nothing is like here.
WOW!! -- Now that was a pretty quick turn around , Where did you wind up living in CA....You may want to tough it out a little longer....a least until the end of the long Houston summer

How does that old song go?......." if I can't make it here, or there....I can't make it anywhere..."

I think it was a song Frank sang about nyc, but it still might work

What many people don't seem to realize about relocation is that it isn't uncommon for people to make a long distance move only to relocate again within a year or two. For years Clark County NV (Las Vegas) reported the area was often growing by 4 thousand residents a month but was wasn't disclosed was that only a fraction of that number remained there longer than 6 months.

While that may be true, what inspires them to spend so much time complaining about where they are?It seems to me folks that make long distance relo's every few years are chasing something besides living in Utopia

I've from California (originally) and I doubt I will ever move back. I'm doing just fine in Texas. I highly doubt anyone would move from Texas to California over taxes...California's state income tax is something like 9%. That is a LOT of money straight off the top of middle class incomes. And the cost of housing is sky high.

As for this forum, I've been here long enough to say, "Y'all be nice to each other, you hear?"

In California speak, that would be, "Let's all be, like, nice, OK?"

Now Playing: Tool > Ænima (1996) > Ænima

My heart absolutely bleeds for people fleeing our oppressive taxation by going back to California.

That stuff about friendliness is a lie. Or maybe it isn't, and it just comes in limited amounts to people who move here because they think they're saving money, then they get here and whine about everything.

So yeah....one to go? I hope it's 130 degrees tomorrow.
