I was wondering about Kingwood, especially the commute. Does anyone know anything about Huffman and if it would be to far?

What about the commons @ Lake Houston? We are so used to having land. We are country people and would love to have @ least an acre. Not sure about the commute and area though. Like I said, I'm clueless....

The commons is very nice. It is not too bad a commute..30 - 40 minutes should do it. The bad part is crossing the toll bridge and the intersection at Beltway 8 and 90 which is under construction right now.

Thank you, I was hoping it was a good area. I've found a few houses I like in the Commons. The lots are large with lots of trees since we are from East TX that is what we are used too. We will for sure check out that area.

My dad lives in the Commons of Lake Houston in Huffman. It's a nice neighborhood. I don't like the route down 1960 to get to shopping and activities though. Traffic can get bad there. We chose Kingwood because we have school-aged children and liked the Kingwood schools better and the proximity to their extra-curricular activities. Kingwood locals call it living in the bubble. It feels like it's own self-contained small town. We have everything we need without having to venture five miles from home. Crosby is also a decent commute but I don't know much about their school system.

Thanks for the info. We will check both areas out. We have a 3yr old so schools will be very important to us.

We looked in Clear Lake, Deer Park, League City and Friendswood when we first moved to the area. After renting in that area the first year, we decided the commute was worth it to move further in after dealing with Hurricane Ike and we absolutely love it now. Our kids can walk to school and it is very shady and family friendly.
Yes, this area up here is worth the drive for us as well. We cringe at Hurricane season and it just put more a teeny bit more at ease being up here but there are many nice areas down there to live.

We live here in the thick of it and really traffic is not all that bad. Of course at peek times it can get congested but we have never just sat in traffic more than a few minutes. I was actually worried abt though. Last summer we moved back after being away for two years. The area had grown a ton. On our final drive in we got stuck on 1960 by the West Lake Houston intersection and sat for 15 minutes. I am sooo thankful that was the only case.
The Commons has many nice homes and the drive is not that bad to shopping and restraunts.

So far the Commons is our favorite, but we haven't been there to actually see the community. We are from a small town, with lots of land and trees. I'm just hoping to find something that is somewhat close to what we love.
