Hi everyone,
A friend is coming to town and we are getting together for dinner. He is staying at Hotel Icon downtown and I'm in charge of picking the restaurant. Looking for something casual with good food. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How casual? Soma sushi is right there. Catalan has been well thought of.

Higher end places:
Catalan
Stella Sola (Heights area)

Mid range:
Benjy's
Soma
Branch Water Tavern
Max's Wine Dive
Patrenella's
Beaver's

You can't go wrong with Catalan, Stella Sola, or Benjy's.
