The Astroworld site will become the Texas Medical Center - South. Like I said earlier, the TMC is running out of room to expand, and will only build so high up, so the Astroworld site makes a good location. Not to mention it's only a few stops on the light rail away from the TMC and a lot of TMC employees/students live in the apartments near there.

Agree on your last sentence, too. Especially since Houston is getting EarthQuest Adventures out of it.

I think we'll be seeing a lot more than just TMC presence though. I am positive there will be high end shopping and hotels coming in as well. Hotels are natural even if TMC comes in, because some of Houston's best are in TMC right now.

The shopping is given, that entire area is an entertainment complex with Reliant Park and the young population due to college kids in the area.

I know restaurants too, that one is a given.

But the only thing I don't know about and really think would be awesome would be a signature water theme, like a cool type of fountain or waterfall or maybe like a small stream going through or something. It would be a nice change.

I really want them to get that Buffalo Bayou project rolling faster- that could change the downtown atmosphere ten fold.

Haha yeahhh, if Astroworld was still there, EarthQuest Adventures wouldn't be coming to Houston. RIP Astroworld it was fun while it lasted but we're moving on to bigger and better things!

The Texas Medical Center right now is already a city within a city. This new development will be just as big.

I wish Dallas had something like that.

More to the point, where does the Texas Medical Center rank among the best Texas skylines, where every skyline stands as its own, out of:

Downtown Houston
Texas Medical Center
Uptown Houston
Downtown Dallas
Uptown Dallas
Downtown Austin
Downtown Ft. Worth
Downtown San Antonio

I mean many say that Uptown is Houston's 2nd best skyline, and many others say the TMC is Houston's 2nd best, but both those skylines can hold their own as Texas' 3rd or 4th best skyline. Anyways, here's my rankings:

1. DT Houston
2. DT Dallas
3. DT Austin
4. TMC
5. UT Houston
6. DT Ft. Worth
7. DT San Antonio
8. UT Dallas

This was close for 3-5, I mean DT Austin has the best composition as a skyline, and has more signature buildings than the TMC or UT Houston, but the TMC has the best density, while UT Houston has the Williams Tower, along with more towers and the longest skyline. Hmmmm, might just start a thread on this.

Potentially Uptown Houston has a great shot to be one of the best in Texas. But it just has way to large of a gap between it's tall buildings. And Transco Tower could use some company there.

My List:
1. Downtown Houston skyline
2. Dowtown Dallas skyline
3. Downtown Austin skyline
4. Uptown Houston skyline
5. Downtown San Antonio skyline
6. Texas Medical Center skyline
7. Downtown Corpus Christi skyline
8. Downtown Fort Worth skyline
9. Downtown El Paso skyline

Footnotes:
- El Paso potentially has the chance of being one of the best along with Corpus Christi is it has more buildings and more taller buildings because of their natural setting.
- I ranked Uptown Houston higher than Texas Medical Center because I like height as a criteria more than "buildings next to each other with moderate height".
- Fort Worth & San Antonio really need some help in this category, they really need to get new projects going as soon as they can.
