So is this thread about African-Americans in The Woodlands or the history of Houston's wards?

I was wondering the same thing.

Like i said before, the woodlands is a nice place to live, but there isn't much a significant amount of African American representation. I saw a few last week at an event at the waterway park, but they don't really socialize too much with other AA's, from what I saw.

I'm going to go out on a limb and open up this for dialogue; not to start up any type of debate or to offend, but just my observations.

What happens with AA's in these types of areas is this: big companies recruit, bring them in to area's like the woodlands from all regions of the world, and though we have the same brown skin, there are still regional/cultural differences within, that keep not all, but a few of us from becoming too personal with each other simply due to those differences. I'm very social, and work as a barber for many different individuals so i always speak, however, I can't say that i'm always received in the same fashion.

In general, wherever an individual chooses to live, is totally up to them because we're all different, and have different requirements for peace of mind, a sense of safety for our children and whatever social outlets desired.

I think as The Woodlands grow, more blacks will move there, in my opinion.

Yeah, i believe the current population is at 72,000 people, which is roughly a 30% jump since 2000.

87.63% of people are white, 2.91% are black, 5.31% are asian, 0.35% are native american, and 3.80% claim 'Other'.

8.91% of the people in The Woodlands, TX, claim hispanic ethnicity (meaning 91.09% are non-hispanic).

Caucasians may also move out from there also.

I think there's more than 8.91% hispanic...if you look at the elementry stats some schools are claiming anywhere between 10-20%. I know when I moved from there Mexicans were moving in quickly to escape the violence in Mexico. I can only imagine there are far more years later.
