I have to admit that Houston TX was not on our radar for relocation from Michigan. There is a possible job interview in the area of Sam Houston Tollway and Tomball Parkway (249). We know nothing about the Houston area.

In this area, what are the good school disctricts to look into? We have 4 girls between the 1st and 9th grades. We are currently in an excellent school district with a strong PTO and parent involvement. We would like to find something similiar without myself spending too much time commuting each day.

TIA for any replies good or bad.

The area you described is actually around 2 different school districts. Cypress Fairbanks independent district and Klein Independent district, depending on where you live. Zip codes, 77070,77068,77069,77086-77064 surround the area where your job interview is located.

You'll get more info on here, but still, I would also research those districts mentioned above for specifics.

Lots of good choices on either side of 249, North of FM 1960 in Cy-Fair, Klein and Tomball. Too many to list.

Highly recommend an area known as the "HP Corridor", it's made up of great Cy-Fair and Tomball schools. Has lots of trees, pretty neighborhoods and a nice all-american kind of quality to it.

Check out 77429, it's a great zip in the area (Longwood/Lakewood Oaks/Lakewood Glen/Rock Creek/Stable Gate/Coles Crossing/Northlake, etc)

Lots of good choices nearby in Tomball (i.e. Villaggio, Village Creek, etc)...
Lots of good choices on the other side of 249 (Champions Forest, Champions, Gleannloch, etc).

A lot depends on housing budget. If it's $200K (for example) go to about $175K. We have no state income tax, but higher property taxes.

Thanks for the information and PM's. We will research more on the Klein schools and surrounding areas.

Yes, I'm aware it get pretty hot 5-6 months out of the year, no need to PM that!
