I don't think Houston will drop its bad image anytime soon. When I lived in SA most people over 25 hated the place for no reason, when I asked why no one could tell me and about half of them had HEARD something bad.

Those I met under 25 couldn't wait to visit it.

The people in my school from Dallas hated everywhere but Dallas (even the Dallas suburbs). They called SA the armpit of Texas, they called Houston the butthole. When I asked what they meant again they could not explain.

Its the same when I asked out of state people here why Houston is not a top 10 city, the best they can give is that it is not there yet

Its a two way street. I do business in Houston once or twice a month and I get to hear from some people how much they hate Dallas and they dont seem to be shy about it either.

It is true that some people from Dallas throw a bad word Houston's way, but what people from Dallas hate even more are the suburbs of Dallas (especially Plano and Arlington). We are looking at buying a place in Carrollton, and you would be surprised some of the crazy thing I hear about it.

People from Austin seem to hate Houston and Dallas equally.

Bottom line is the whole deal is stupid. I like Dallas and Houston both a lot. I wish it could be like in California. People from LA and San Francisco dont hate their cities for no reason like that. There is a lot more respect of the power and the amenities that each has.

I've always thought the hate between Dallas and Houston was friendly; nothing to ever be taken seriously. Now Austinites are delusional about their city.

Maybe the Dallas and Houston rivalry can be a result of both of them literally triailing each other in metro.

do people in Houston give a reason why they hate Dallas tho? cause I have never met someone here who said they hate Dallas, and the dallas people never gave a reason why they hated Houston

yes, the stuff I hear from Houston is mainly a spots rivalry, etc, but when I was in school in SA I heard the Dallas peopel flat out say they hated Houston but they didn't know why. many had never even stopped in the city but just driven threw and judged it from the highways
