Anyone knows a builder, construction company looking for someone to work for FREE.
Something like an intern or on-the-job training.
I am an Engineer with few years experience in design mostly in Oil and Gas.
NO, i wont do laborer stuff but more like superintendent assistant stuff but for free.
I never had field/construction experience but have always wanted to have one.

Thanks,

I am not White, I am Asian. So NO we dont always sue for ridiculous things.

Instead of me going to community college for continuing education in construction management why not just work as intern in construction company.

A superintendent who is afraid of labor or getting dirt under his nails is going to be considered a d-bag by his crew and be worthless. Get out there and hang some dry wall and you will get the experience it sounds like you are looking for. What is it exactly you think an "assistant superintendent" does?

RB4 is right...you need a little field experience to work in the industry.

tstone- I guess I am the wrong kind of white people...was offered a work for free internship at Moo U, but turned it down to get a paying gig with a conglomerate. I dont tell the people in the Heights this.

Haha Oildog... I did the same thing! I'm just not afraid to tell anyone.

Well I was just (partially) joking with that website. It still makes a good point, really no matter what you look like. Ultimate d-baggery.

And construction is probably the most dangerous, dirty, unhealthy job you can get into. No one works in it for their leisure, nor for mediocre pay or company loyalty. If a company down the road is offering $1 more per hour, you will probably lose some of your crew.

OP- didn't say you were going to sue. It's still a liability issue up the wazoo. I suggest staying in college and going the field engineer route. That's a much better pathway to superintendent than starting out as a laborer and working your way up the journeyman/foreman/GF/super food chain.

As a design engineer, it is important that i have construction/field experience.
Unfortunately, I never had the chance go out in the field.
I just want a month or 2 to go out there and observe and learn.

But what's in it for any firm to have some recent college grad just stand around and watch? You'd only be in the way.
