We just signed our kids up for this season of Upward Soccer. We were wanting to find them a sport that was not as cut throat and in your face as seems most sport leagues here in the area. They have never played a sport before and thus we thought that this would be a great way to introduce them to it. Now reading some more info on it....yes after the fact....I am wondering if the kids will actually get to play or just be preached to the entire time? Yes, I know it is Christian based and that IS another reason why we signed up for it but we do not deal well with in your face you are going to H E double hockey sticks because you do not attend church lets save you kinda activities. We like more subtle ways to preach the word if that makes any sense at all. By joining we are hoping to experience some of what the church is actually all about to see if we may want to actually attend church there. Are these Upward leagues based with the church that they are held at or are they outside ministries coming in?
We seem to be drawn more to ministries like Joyce Meyer and Keri Shook. We come from very small church homes and so these Texas size churchs just overwhelm us and this we just have not found a new church home.
Please no sarcastic replies and no debating religion and who is a better christian or anything like that. Just simple honest opinions on the Upward experience please.
