Default Woodlands Market Street

Just spent the day at The Woodlands Market Street and was there 5-6 hours. During that time, I did not see one black person there other than the friend I went with. My friend was the ONLY black person all day. Is that common? I know there aren't many blacks who choose to live in the Woodlands - but I know some who do so I would have expected to see a few black families there shopping.

Its not a big deal, but I was just a bit surprised.

It was a girl thing - eating, killing time in shops, talking, eating, drinking and the like.

If you'll notice, most people in the mall aren't from the woodlands either...

LOL - I was thinking the same thing!

While I know there are AA families in TW, I rarely saw any either when we lived there. Much different story where we are now.

Agree that Woodlands Mall shoppers did not always reflect resident demographics of TW.

Probably because they were at work or in the mall shopping. Most of the AA in the Woodlands area are middle class working folks. I live in the area but can count the number of times I have been to market street on one hand; but talk about going to the mall...and that would be countless times.

Right LOL

Last time I was there; I rarely saw any blacks either. I remember seeing a black woman and that was it.

I've been there a time or two with my boys and rarely saw any other black people besides ourselves.

It's one of those places you go a time or two and just do not need to go back to, IMO. The shops are mostly high end which could price out the average working class family.

It was nice to hang out together after church on a Sunday and walk around visiting the shops, but I don't think I bought anything.

Come think of it, I don't see may blacks out in the Woodlands. We were there for the Fourth of July celebration and only saw a few others. I don't know the reason for that. We never feel out of place when we go and have never had any untoward experiences there.

Once again, JMHO.

Why would you care? I stood out on 518 in Pearland for an hour once and didn't see one cat. I saw lots of dogs and birds, but no cats. Is that common?
