I got a speeding ticket today On I-10 outbound, right by ikea. You do have to be careful in that area. The cops are everywhere on I-10! Only within a few miles of 610 though. I didn't have a water bottle readily available, so I couldn't spill water on my crotch and tell him I had to pee badly and needed to get to the next restroom asap. But he must have liked my bumper stickers, because I got a ticket for going 65 in a 60 zone instead of the 75 I was going. He said that I'd have to pay less this way. I must say that I was going with the flow! Well, I guess Houston needs money. I have a few questions.
I was going to take defensive driving, but they want *150 Dollars for that ( "court fee"), and probably around 25 Dollars for the class. That's gonna be 175 bucks. That's the same as the speeding ticket itself. I know..that way it won't go on my record. What else could I do? Is there anybody here who is experienced in fighting speeding tickets? Any help is appreciated!

Wait, you pretend to PEE on yourself???

Defensive driving is cheaper and easier now because to the internet. Getting someone like Sprecker to fight your ticket will be double the cost.

No, I didn't. It says that though. I know people who did this. The class is still 25 Dollars online, plus the 150 for the "court fees". Sigh, so much money!

I think mine was $110 or so for court costs. Ended up saving about $50 by taking the defensive driving. Almost a year and a half later our insurance went up though.

Isn't there also a surcharge the DMV charges you when you have so many points? I forgot about that. Don't think there's one when you do defensive driving.

you will start to get numerous letters from attorney's offices....my last speeding ticket i used one of them and only paid like $50...they rescheduled the initial court date, but i had to show up to the rescheduled court date.....ticket was dismissed and nothing on my record.....and i was going 80 in a 60........ coincidentally, it was on I-10 going eastbound just inside the loop by the Washington exit......

It kind of sounds to cheap to be true Why did it get dismissed? Because the cop didn't show up? I wouldn't have to pay anything for the ticket in this case, right? But would pay double if it dosen't work. Attorney and ticket. I think someone told me that HPD cut the hours the cops spend at thecourts, but I don't know for sure.

You were actually speeding and you admit it? Take the fine and quit whining.
