My in-laws were looking at a Tricon home in 77007 zip about 9 months ago. It was new construction. They decided not to buy it for a few reasons:

1) the immediate location wasn't good.

2) the house seemed too small-the house did not have a good use of space. We toured homes with the same sq ftg but seemed bigger. I toured this particular house and the living room was very small. The kitchen was gorgeous. The house was very narrow and long since they usually build two townhomes on one normal sized lot. See this article:
(Tricon Garage Bungalows: Not Budging » Swamplot: Houston’s Real Estate Landscape)

3) Tricon has a BBB rating of F (at least at that time)

Thanks, any recommendations for good builders who build in the Heights or Uptown areas?

Sandcastle builds great townhomes in the Heights area, within your price range. We bought from them in the Heights within the last year and have nothing but good things to say.
