The city may be suburban in nature, but it's the city because it's in the city limits. Anything outside of Houston is the real suburban area. No, Uptown is not a suburb of Houston because it's in the city. That's just like saying Sherman Oaks is a suburb of LA.

I'm still sticking with Uptown.

Except some of the densest and most transit dependent areas are outside of the loop. But yes Houston is mostly all suburban style development.
