Congrats UH!

UH has No. 1 entrepreneurship program for undergrads - Princeton - Houston Business Journal

Once again, the University of Houston ranked as the No. 1 undergraduate entrepreneurship program in the country by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

In the graduate programs category, another Houston university ranks high - Rice University is #6.

I've always wondered why someone would shell out thousands, and years of College to be an entrepreneur. That makes no sense to me. No news I would get excited about.

I was amused by this as well. Either you have that spirit or not. It's not something taught or learned. General Business degrees will give you enough information to get going if you have the drive.

Well I know nothing about business degrees, but I'm guessing it is a general business degree with an added concentration for people who want to focus in becoming an entrepreneur. It doesn't mean that your only career choice upon graduation is to become an enterpreneur. And Rice, Baylor, UT-D, and SMU also offer those degrees, too so it must be of value to somebody.

The big names rank high on other lists, like the one put out by US News and World Report:

Entrepreneurship - Best Business Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News

Not to hate on the thread or my school, but if you talk to people in the business school, entrepreneurship is kind of a crap major to begin with and most of the people in that major tend to double major in something else as well. The most prestigious undergrad degrees from UofH (that I know of) would be and thing in the architecture department, hotel management (although I've heard that's kind of a crap major as well), business management, and anything that has to do with the oil industry. Actually, the school is kind of known for having specialized majors and classes for oil, energy, and space technology.
