Looks like the city is try to find any sneaky way to leave the red light camera up even thought we voted them to be removed. If these camera are not taken down the city might be sued for not removing them

They'll remove them. It isn't as simple as everyone thought, though.

I would be shocked if the vendor allowed the cash cow to die without a fight. Look for lawsuits coming soon. And look for the city to do all they can to slow the removal process to assist them in their efforts, since they have a big cow in the herd too.

I'm not sure what the big issue is having them. If you don't run a red light, then you don't have a problem.

You dont have to pay the ticket anyway. I got one and never paid and just got my car registered even though i received letters saying registration would be suspended until payment.

I want them gone as much as anyone, but all the irrational emotion needs to be checked. Anyone who thinks Houston should take them down and pay the huge fee to terminate the contract is a short-sighted fool.

They will come down as soon as possible.

Since my car was completely smashed, with me in it (luckily not my kids), by a jerk running a red light, I am pretty unhappy these were voted out. It's clear that people want to run light without penalties, and without concern about who they might kill. Typical selfish attitude.

They did fight, they spent 1.6 million to try to convence us to vote yes to prop 3. Did you not see the commercials?

Sneaky? The city has a contract that requires they give ATS 120 day notice to terminate the contract. They intend to do that. Would you rather see a lengthy, protracted and expensive lawsuit?

What's amazing to me is we were given a choice of two types of taxes on Tuesday's ballot:

1) A tax that raises millions of dollars, and you can completely avoid paying.

2) A tax that will raise billions of dollars, and not only can you not avoid it, you don't know how much it's going to be or how high it can or will be raised.

We vote to eliminate #1 and add #2. Humans are a strange species.

I dont agree with the red light cameras and I as well was hit by someone running a red light , But they ran the light cause the werent paying attention. Most people dont go around purposely running lights. These cameras go off in situations where cars are crossing through intersection at the change from yellow to red. I find it more dangerous due to the fact people are slamming on their brakes at yellow light risking rear end accidents when they could safely pass through--but worried bout the camera flash. There is a lag from red light on one side and the time yours turns green. I personally treat a green signal as a stop sign before i take off.
