Lightbulb relocating info

Thinking of moving to Houston, from San Jose area, but don't know anything about specific communities. We're both professionals and want a great school system with gated communities/golf courses/lakes.....what areas should I look? The relocation guides want you to specify a particular area before they would send anything.....Suggestions to get started??????

North and west of Houston are a lot of golf courses. If you want to be closer to the center of town you might look at the Heights/Memorial Park area. But look all around - this is just to get you started.

There's no shortage of transplanted Californians here.

I am coming to Houston new too, and I suggest you to look in Sugarland, Katy, or Pearland. Sugarland is southwest of Houston along the 59 highway. Katy is west along the 10, and Pearland is southeast, about 20 minutes from the Texas Medical Center. Those areas will remind you of the good California landscape, regarding palm trees, being green, being clearn, etc, but the areas offer great schools, awesome housing, shopping, great lifestyle, etc. I was born in Los Angeles, and been all over California, and besides the humidity of Houston, you will love everything about the city. Many Californians are moving here as well.
