Default Deerbrook Movie Tavern?

I would like to enjoy an afternoon out to lunch and movie with my husband for his birthday. How is the Deerbrook Movie Tavern? Anyone had experience there? We want to see Harry Potter and since it's 2.5 hours, I would rather be able to eat a little quicker so our friends aren't having to watch our children forever! THought it would nice to do both at the same time. But if it's going to be a negative experience we will go elsewhere. Online reviews seem to be hit or miss.

Anyone have any experience with the new Starplex theater just built in Kingwood? Usually we just go to Deerbrook, but we prefer heading over to Willowbrook for movies. Or Edward's theater off Weslayan in Houston. But we don't really want to go that far to add extra travel time.

Also suggestions for a great lunch experience around Kingwood? We will be doing this tomorrow afternoon.

I haven't been to that one but the food is not outstanding in any of them I have been to so far. It's just OK. Fine if you are pressed for time, I guess. I do like to be able to order a real drink at the movies, instead of a sugary cola - so I do like to go to them. Just don't expect fantastic food.

It is his birthday - maybe your friends won't really mind watching the kids for an additional hour - if you want to meal to be special.

It's a fun place, but as Cheryjohns said, the food is nothing to get excited about. It's not bad, but you'll be happier if you order something simple (sandwich, burger) rather than a steak or kabobs.

My wife and I went for the first time a few weeks ago to see Red and had a good time. I have some friends that like it more than others -- worth trying to see if its your 'thing'.

Both are nice. As others stated the food is nothing to write home about.

Do yourselves a favor. Go to one of the movie theaters that don't allow teens in after dark without parents. There's one in Kingwood. It's worth it to get away from all the texting, giggling, and other interruptions.

I think I've decided to try Raffa's (on W. Lake Houston) and then go to the new Starplex movie theater in Kingwood.
