Would it make you feel better if they hit the target that many times?
Like I said, BB guns are considered a joke in Texas, but I bet you would be the first to squawk if your property were damaged or you werr injured, by a BB or anything else.
maybe you should read my previous post.....i never said it was ok to shoot the bb gun period....but if they are practicing in their yard (not that they should be), they shouldn't be missing that many times.

The copper balls you are describing are in fact BB's. They are shot from an "air-gun" - a gun which uses compressed air, pumped by hand, into a chamber which will launch the projectile (the bb) at a reasonable speed and distance. It is NOT a toy. It should be treated as a firearm and used with the proper training....that being said, when I was a kid, EVERYONE had one.
BB guns are not illegal. Shooting a BB gun in ones own backyard is not illegal.
Intentionally shooting out your neighbors window IS illegal.
As posted above...where does the OP say that is was a kid who did this?
my brother and i had a bb gun when we were younger and i still have a scar to prove it. i know it's not a toy and people shouldn't shoot them in a populated area.
now, i have a question.....i don't personally know the law on BB guns...but if it's not a toy, and it should be treated as a firearm and used with proper training.....why wouldn't it be illegal to shoot it in your own backyard....

That's right!
My ds stole a bb gun from a neighbor, before we knew it, he stood in his own backyard and shot out a neighbor's window. So, what did he do wrong?Isn't it his right as a Texan to shoot in his own backyard? What's the problem?
Oh, the fact that he shot out a neighbor's window, almost hit her sleeping toddler, well, now, that's just the chances we take living in Texas, righ, y'all?
My ds is currently on probation for other, unrelated charges. he's still free, able to do as he wishes. the probaton officer said he can't pick him up for pending charges, they have to be charges filed and actually charged. Come on, folks, the law's a joke, do whatever you want, no one will charge you, and if they do, no charge will stick. Even hacking your mother with a meat cleaver!

Clarification, I was mostly addressing this post:

These two are legal.
HOWEVER, it could be lead pellets in a gun/marker similar to a BB gun.
I am not sure if these are street legal. And they could live a small hole in glass. Just my 0.02
Now then, concerning your question about the legality of a BB gun..just because the person operating the BB gun SHOULD know to treat it with the same respect and caution as an actual firearm doesn't mean that they WILL.
The state law simply states that the projectile must stay within the boundaries of your property tract. I have been unable to find any law set forth by the city of Houston regarding air guns.

i understand totally...... if you find anything, please post it up....i, myself would like to know, and i'm sure the OP would benefit from it as well......
here's something i found, doing a quick google search....although it specifies Katy, TX.....
ARTICLE 7.200 DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS, AIR RIFLES AND OTHER PROJECTILES PROHIBITED*
It shall be unlawful to discharge any firearm, air rifle, pellet gun, BB gun, carbon dioxide (CO2) gun, bow, crossbow, or so-called hunting slingshot so that the projectile therefrom crosses any public property, or crosses any thoroughfare or property line within the City of Katy, Texas; except that such may be discharged by any party upon his own property and upon the property of another only when acting in such other person's presence and with permission.
and in related terms....
FREER (August 20, 2010)--A 5-year-old girl died after she was struck by a pellet that a 10-year-old relative fired from an air rifle, Freer police said.
Freer Police Chief Roy Salazar said Sarah Salinas died Wednesday after being she was accidentally in the chest.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital in Alice.
Investigator Ric Ortiz with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office said the cause of death was a pellet wound penetrating the chest. child Protective Services has been notified.

Tell it to the judge, they still think BB guns are "funny"
Wonder what CPS did in that tragic case? Probably charged the parents of the dead child for negligent supervision, after all, they should have been supervising her so she didn't get hit by a stray BB. Regardless of what, its always the parents fault, and CPS exists to destroy families!
The shooter would pay for everything! I think I am reasonable and not calling the police on this issue since this is the first time this kind of incident ever happened.
You are the one on the ground and probably know best how to handle the situation. I would not be tolerant with a second offense though.

Not to diminish the OP's incident - but there is a big difference between a bb gun and a pellet gun. The article you quoted mentioned a pellet gun. Let's not get hysterical.
My pellet gun is lethal. BB guns sting, might draw some blood, might destroy an eye worst case. I might not have a problem with a neighbor shooting a bb gun at a target in his back yard against a REALLY good back stop if he was shooting away from other houses. Like at his own house. Not so with a pellet gun.
OMG!! Seriously? A stupid teenage boy does something stupid, and the advice is to run out & take legal action.....involve police?
Who let the squirrels out of their cages?
IMO, just talk to the kid. Unless he looks at you with pycho eyes & tells you he got a kick out of what he did..........fix the window without drama (and that means replacing a single glass pane & patching the sceen for very little money) get him to cover your expense. Put it to rest.

This. He said the neighbors are decent people. No need to get legal over this and turn this into a much bigger situation.
