Lol. IKR, but from the way you described it seems nice and spacious. How much is it? I'm just looking at options a little early that's all!

I dunno. It depends on the area. you should find a job first and look at commuting times before buying a house.

Houston is big yo

Stop obessing about the house. Every profession has people who do well. The person who owns the McDonalds down the street probably lives in a nice house. Focus on what you need to do. The advice of the prior poster was to look into Petroleum Engineering. You should be asking questions about that, not asking about his friend's house. You are in college. Asking about 4 bedroom homes is jumping a few steps.

I'm not obsessing like you think. I'm just playing with HtownLove, although I'm getting some great points out of it. I know a lot of engineers in Huntsville are doing good, especially the ones who are married.

You seem very unfocused and immature. Here is a reality bomb: You need to take your career seriously to be good at it. Also, why would being married come into this equation?

HtownLove and I play alot although we get information by doing it. I'm very focused with what I want to do; I'm currently on the Dean's List with All A's, so I'm more focused than what you think. By exploring the "engineer" lifestyle in Huntsville, I could see that married engineers were better off than single engineers due to joint incomes. This is why I'm trying to get information from Houstonians about the civil engineering field to see how moving to Houston will benefit me and my lifestyle.

I hope that you do well and I don't mean to be harsh, but you seem to be focusing on all the absolutely wrong things to be focusing on if you want to get ahead in life. I'm not trying to make fun, but your posts are almost comical in that they show a typical college student ignorance of reality. I tell you this to help you.

1) The idea that you are focusing on "lifestyle" in Houston or Huntsville, is really odd. You should focus on getting the job and the "lifestyle" will come. Your attitude seems to be one that will get you locked in to high expenses such as houses and cars and lots of material things almost as soon as you have any money in your pocketbook. That is really unfortunate. It will hinder your career growth and kill you financially. No one aspires to go to Huntsville. The people doing well there probably have taken management positions based on doing well elsewhere, not taken a position there after college and worked their whole life there.

2) Stop spending money you don't have yet, even if its just in your head. I can see you being a fifty-k-millionaire out on the town already.

3) Don't view marriage as something that will unlock a more economically prosperous lifestyle. If you do, you've got divorce written all over your future.

4) Go back and re-read the post about being a P.E. That was very useful information. You need to find out more about that but instead you completely ignored it. You've been asking for advice all over this board. When you get good advice, VALUE IT.

I could go on and on, but instead, please just take the following advice: Focus on finding out as much as you possibly can about how to better position yourself. Ignore the incidental things. Basically, stop focusing on lifestyle and focus on what you need to do to attain it by working harder than the next guy. That is how you get ahead, even today.
