Voting ends in 20 hours. I like the idea of preserving the Astrodome and letting it become something else for some other use, so I picked "leave it as an icon" but you guys can measure in on what you want to do with the Astrodome!

Never thought I'd say this but I'm leaning toward demolition. It's preferable to letting it sit there and rot.

The longer it sits, the less likely it will be developed. A stadium is not easy to redevelop into something else to begin with. The Texans and the rodeo are blocking any of the ideas that do go up, and then with the economy the money's probably not there. It's not looking good.

I'd just hate for it to be torn down and only to be replaced by parking lots. However, TMC is quickly growing south and could use the space.

Tear that monstrosity down. It should go the way of the Kingdome. I would probably drive to Houston to witness its implosion!

EITHER fix it up or tear it down.

I agree with JFRE, the problem is that the Texans and the Rodeo block every attempt to revitalize it. If we're just going to sit there paying millions to maintain something we're not going to use, tear it down.

The error was in allowing Reliant to be built on the same site.

I'm curious to know why the Texans & Rodeo are against restoration? (Edit to add - I didn't read the link)

The Astrodome is the 8th Wonder of the World. (Well, it had the official nickname anyway.) But it was a really big deal to cheer for our home team in the first covered/air conditioned ball field.

Yet, tearing it down goes with the flow of our disposable city.
