Individual Methodist congregations will vary quite a bit - one from another - in terms of style and feel - the doctrines are mainstream - but the style/emphasis of the teaching will vary somewhat from pastor to pastor.
Many more folks pick a congregation/pastor these days (as opposed to simply picking a denomination). I know you will find a great place to connect. If you visit Grace Fellowship, be sure to post back your thoughts!!

It seems like I have heard some conversation about PowerHouse Church in Katy - it is on the north side of I-10. I really can't recall specifics. I think it is the one that has a marquee out front and looks something like a movie theatre!

Yes, I've driven past that one a few times and looked up their website. Not quite sure about that one. I went into the website for their youth group and a few of their posted videos (through youtube) had been removed by youtube. Not sure what that was about, but doesn't make a lot of sense for me, unless it was inflammatory or racist. They also had a video posted entitled "F*ck Christmas", which I didn't watch. Not really what I want my kids exposed to.

This was recommended to us by our builder yesterday. She apparently has quite a few friends who attend. We plan on visiting Sunday.

It looks like their regular "kids place" ministries will be on vacation due to being the Sunday after Christmas (they have four Christmas Eve events tomorrow)...but you should still get a good feel for the church.
