Red face First Time Home-Buyer Looking In Fresno

Help!!! I am a first time home-buyer and we are looking at buying a new home in Fresno, specifically the new Creekmont subdivision. Can someone give me some insight as to what they think about the area. I am curious to know if you think I can get a good resale value 3-5yrs down the road... does the area seem to be growing?? Any info you can give me will help. Thx!!

Don't know much about the schools....I gather the schools on the east side of Fort Bend ISD seem to be lower-performing but that is not always true. I believe your high school will be Hightower HS, perhaps Willowridge. (I'm not really sure where this subdivision is.) But the Highway 6/288 corridor is growing fast - I just wonder how high the gas prices have to get before it levels out the demand in the suburbs because people need to live closer to work.

Provided we don't have a drastic downward shift in the economy (e.g. people not being able to afford to pump gas into their cars) in the next 3-5 years I can see eastern Fort Bend County and northern Brazoria county building up. It's kind of the final frontier for suburban growth on the immediate fringe of Houston city limits.

I do know that there are a lot of foreclosures in the Fresno area. Creekmont is new so it should remain stable for at least 10 years. Personally, I would not buy in that general area. I would either go into Missouri City (Sienna Plantation, Riverstone) or perhaps Pearland if you want to stay south of Houston.

I think it would be a good move. That area is poised for growth b/c of Sienna Plantation. There are plans for more retail to move to the Ft Bend Tollway/Hwy6 area. With the addition of Ft Bend toll its made the commute easier. The high school for that area is Hightower, i havent heard very good reports about the school, but i dont have any kids so i dont know personally. The area w/ HIGH foreclosures is the Teal Run community(due to shady lending tactics)-definitely stay away from there. Creekmont is really nice and in a growing area, so i say go for it.
