Hi All

I will be moving to Houston to attend UHD in Fall 2011. I am looking for cheap , safe student accomodation right very close to the Metro Light rail stops. I realize its a city so I cant really take my car to Univ.

I have tried to look on internet for suitable accomodation, I hardly see anything. Are there any specific areas which i am not aware of? Are there even residential builidings in the area?

I would prefer something in the DOWNTOWN STATION(UHD, Preston, Main street, Bell etc) of Metro. Budget is 550-650/month

Thank you

If you want to go to UHD's College of Business, get a parking permit for the Vine Street garage (adjacent to the Business building) because that side of campus gets closer to the sketchy areas across the bayou. If you use the light rail, you might want to use the shuttle bus from the stop at One Main because crossing that half by foot and entering via the front steps is far (approximately an extra 5-10 minutes). That option entails waiting for the shuttle. The Daly Street economy lot is too close to White Oak Bayou and the railroad track, while the Washington Street parking lot is where the TV news reported flash flooding during classes.

Hopefully the light rail extension construction isn't still too bad as was anticipated before the school year.

On the bright side, having a car also opens up the option of UH. Taking advantage of the geographic closeness, it's only about a 10 minute drive from UHD. It's also possible to take the bus (hopefully someone more knowledgeable can tell you how).
