Default Garage apartments, or cheap apartments

Hi!

I need to find an inexpensive place to live that is safe! I'm a retiring teacher and my pay is about to be cut in half. I have two cats and quite quiet. I'd like to stay sortof close to the Gessner / I-10 area if possible, or be located in a way to easily get to that area.

Help, please.

Garage apartments are typically relegated to the inner loop, and (IMO) cheap apartments conjure up slumlord-type places when you are talking outer loop. What is your price range?

Westchase has affordable apartments. Look for ones catering to 55+ and you'll most likely be in a community that is safe.

Also consider looking for rooms for rent - I mean someone renting a room in their house. That is somewhat common in Clear Lake. Hopefully you can find something similar in your part of town.

I rented a room 3 different times instead of renting an apartment and saved some $$$. Just be careful about who you live with.
