My family and I may be moving to the Houston area because of my husband's job. He will be working off of Richmond near Bellaire. We want to buy a home, but we are first time home buyers and we have two school age children. A house around $100K-$130K and good schools would be awesome. Does anyone have any suggestions of good neighborhoods?

You might want to look at Copperfield and The Colonies. Both of those neighborhoods are along Hwy 6 just south of 290. Copperfield is north of 529 and The Colonies is south of 529. Both of those neighborhoods have multiple villages/colonies within the community with varying prices. It's a safe area and very family oriented. I grew up in the area and loved it.

The Colonies would put him closer to his job.

Oak Cliff Place (zoned to Millsap elem) is in your range... Ravensway is also zoned to Millsap is a wonderful family neighborhood and may be a bit more (130-140k)... We lived in Oak Cliff Place and it was nice, quiet, and affordable, and Millsap was top notch. Wonderful teachers who have been there for YEARS and are commited to the school.

We live in Cinco now, and while we enjoy having a newer, larger house, we really miss Millsap. Teachers here (SW side of Katy ISD are young newbies Millsap was exemplary, and that was without "fancy" neighborhoods being zoned to it.

However, I do have to tell you, the commute from Cy-Fair to Richmond/Bellaire will be pretty brutal. You may want to consider coming further west. If Katy is too expensive, I'd consider "Richmond" (as in Lamar Consolidated ISD) Lakemont is a nice family neighborhood, may be in your budget. It is along FM 1093, and even if dh didn't want to take the Westpark Tollway to work, there are back-ways. Shoot, even Bellaire Blvd stretches out this way to Richmond/S Katy
