So he asked permission and was denied, but put it up anyways? I'm sorry but knowingly going against the HOA's decision wasn't a very good idea. $200 bucks a day, ouch.

They said he could put up a flag on a smaller pole on his house. We have one. Why does he need a huge free-standing flagpole. HOAs are not my favorite thing, but when you buy your house, you know what the deed restrictions are.

If he likes his flag that much, you'd think he'd put it on a lower pole that makes it easier for him to see, instead of having to crane his neck to look up at it all the time.

I'm thinking he just wants to show off and/or flaunt the rules he agreed to when buying his home. They are absolutely allowing him to fly the flag, just at a lower height, and he wants it to be his way or the highway. That's the only thing sick about this story, in my book.

I agree with the HOA in this one.

There are deed restrictions. It's not about your "freedoms", it's a contract. You implicitly signed it when you bought the property.

flagPOLES are not allowed in my POA either, just like we don't allow carports, garage conversions, etc etc etc

FLAGS are very welcome

If you want absolute freedom to do what you want with your house, don't buy in a deed restricted community

just like if you want to engage in unrestricted drug dealing, move to Northern Mexico

???why do people have such a hard time understanding this?

I side with the HOA on this one too. I know some people hate HOA's, but I don't my neighbors putting up crazy $#@ that makes the neighborhood look bad. I don't think a flag pole is crazy, but you get my point.

I wouldn't want one of my neighbors putting up a large flag pole in their yard. If you're so patriotic, put up flags all over the INSIDE of your house, wear clothes with flag prints, get it tattooed on your body, etc...

I agree with HOA on this one. The owner knew what he was getting himself into when buying a home in a HOA subdivision. Flag pole needs to come down immediately.
