Harris County Appraisal District

thats the appraisal district website where you can search taxes. in houston taxes are generally high for homes. but that varies. it can be way more than $6,000 a year to less than $3,000 from my experience and comparisons to friends' places.

as for the others you may find sites that will give you comparisons in utilities between the major companies that are here. or you may just have to comparison shop.

some companies people like more than others so you might want to seek out specific feedback once you get a feel for the price range. sorry my post may not be that helpful. i hate this sort of thing and end up going with whoever makes it the easiest on me

my electric bill varies $70-$100. i am in a town home not a large house, i conserve, and i pay more due to using 100% renewable. i have friends in a home who pay over $300 a month for electricity in the summer time because of running the AC so much. summers here are very hot and your bill will be higher

your light bill is part of your electric bill. my cable internet is $30 per month which is pretty cheap. i am not paying for super fast internet, but it is fast enough for me. I have AT&T U-Verse. good service here. and cable tv is also At&T U-Verse for $67/month with HD and DVR. you can save a lot of money but not having cable tv.

gas, water, sewer, trash are handled by the city. cost is inexpensive compared to the other utilities. i believe this all should be $100 or less. but this also depends on if you have grass to water, lots of kids to shower, or have multiple large appliances that run on gas. my partner pays that so I don't know. hopefully someone can give you a better idea.

what language are you comfortable with? maybe someone here speaks it

A lot depends on the home. Is is a townhome or an unattached single-family home? How many square feet? A 1000 square foot townhome is going to have cheaper cooling (the big expense here in the summer for your electric bill) than a 3000 square foot house. Is it a two story house or a one story? How cool do you like it in the summer? Do you work from home? A lot of variables.

Same goes with taxes - it depends on where and how big and how expensive.

for example: http://search.har.com/engine/dispSea...MLNUM=96570928
Maintenance Fee: $135 annually. Thats was tax per year?

NO thats an HOA fee. It's completely separate from property taxes. And that listing you have has got to be the cheapest home I've seen in Houston and with the highest number of separate taxes.

But the tax rate is 2.6% which is low for the Houston area.

Electricity = $80 to $300 month with the high being in the summer
Gas = $50 to $150 with the high being winter
taxes = $2000 to the moon depending on tax rate and home value.

When you look on har.com click the "Tax Information" to the right and it will tell you what they paid last year. But the more important one is Total Tax Rate. Try to find one below 3%.
