I was wondering if anyone else has moved to Houston, Texas, or thinking about moving there. If you did move do you like it?

Purchased a home 15 years in Miami 250K, sold it last year 750K.
moved to Houston. Purchased a home 250K, nicer than the one I had in Miami.
Home insurrance is around 1000k a year. More jobs with a much better pay.
I see often Florida license plates in the city.
BUT, forget about swimming in the Gulf. the water is with the presence of the famous "flesh eating bacteria" so if you don't care about the water side...Houston will be a good pic.

I never heard that the Gulf has flesh eating bacteria. Yuck!!
We are relocating, and I am trying to find an area that is close (within 45 min) to the city, and that has good high schools. I will definitely stay out of the water, thanks for the information.

Why don't you post in the Texas forum? This is a useless thread in the Florida forum. All it will turn into is another useless cry session of no benefit to this website.

I would avoid:
the south, and south east: close to the water, it will take one hurricane and the home insurance rate will skyrocket.
the north east: is more industrial
the south west: is satured.

I would encourage:
the west and north west: a lot of new subdivisions.

It just depends on where you are originally from. In Texas everything requires you to drive and every area is like another city. I loved it there, but like all new places it will require for you to adapt to the new enviroment. It is what you make it!!

Houston is humid, hot and polluted, bad mosquito problem as well.

Homes are cheap there because there is so much land and they have very high property tax rates.

I never heard of the jobs paying that well, but that probably depends what field your in?

Funny, I see a lot of Texas plates here as of late.

I have never been to Texas but it sounds like your talking about South Florida! all but the home prices.
