to do what?? push a baby around in a stroller for 12 hours a day for 4 days in downtown SA??? why???
Was it ever established how old this toddler was??? That can be anywhere from 1 to 3 and all of the attractions I listed do offer activities for kids ranging in that age bracket.

even pushing the 1-3 bracket to 1-4, I would not take my kid in that bracket to a six flags.
Sea World maybe (they have those little animal shows), but not those other activities mentioned.

I just think your even more limited when in Houston with a child so young. A museum will only keep them entertained for so long; you have the beach which is nice, but I just think overall, San Antonio would be a better pick.

I didn't say take them to the museum of FINE ART, I said to the CHILDREN'S museum. The one in SA is small.
I also recommended the Cockerel Exhibit at the NAt SCi museum. It is an exhibit of butterflies. I said the zoo, and Hermann park.
why does everyone think Houston is just going to the beach???
SA may be better for kids, but it doesn't have as much to do for Toddlers. and I would rather take my toddler to play on a beach or in the park than drag them around to see some missions.
The economist, Htownlove: not a downer at all. It's ok to wonder. We have already been to almost every major city in the US, more than once. Texas has a better reputation than you'd think. Texas sounds cool and very interesting to alot of people. Im originally from Europe and even there, people want to go to Texas, (I don't know if it could have anything to do with those 80's TV series, but still). I have people my age, late 20's, also from Europe, who'd love to see Texas. It might sound strange, but I think having an interest for Texas is a little more common than you'd think.
I live in Houston now and love it, Lived in Dallas for a year and a half. I'm married to a girl from Queens. So....I would do Dallas. If you are looking for a more authentic "Texas" experience, D/FW is the way to go. Ft. Worth is great to visit, and when it comes to museums and stuff Dallas has enough to get by.
Fellow Texans, heed the man's words. It's funny when I hear Texans get all neurotic, believe it or not non-Texans for the most part are fascinated with Texas. And they should be!
You must be measuring from Katy or some other western suburb-->
Google's directions from Reliant Stadium (Downtown Houston) to The Alamo (Downtown San Antonio) say 3 hours, 20 minutes to 3 hours, 40 minutes. All you need to hit is a little bit of traffic and you're at 4 hours.
Suggested routes
3 hours 20 mins
I-10 W

3 hours 42 mins
US-90 Alt W and I-10 W

I drive back and forth between Houston and SA a few times a month for work. From where I am (Greenway Plaza or Fondren SW) it's 3.5 hours with a potty/snack stop at Buc-ee's almost every time, and I keep it pegged at 70 so I don't get a ticket. Only time it will take 4 hours (not counting a wreck on the I-10) is if you try to leave Houston in the PM or arrive in morning traffic.
Rated a 5-star nationwide children's museum by Citysearch.comand the only one in Texas to receive such accolade, the Children's Museum of Houston is the highest-attended youth museum in the country for its size and is dedicated to its mission of transforming communities through innovative, child-centered learning.
Look dont let these people drive you all over texan and the hill country, or houston, heres what you do. Come to houston, and bring an appetite and legs that want to do some walking and exploring. Stay in the inner city preferably in the medical center, there you'll find the chepest centraly located hotels, spend a couple days exploring herman park, the zoo, a great art museum or mayB the science musuem. Also visit market square downtown to grab sum pizza by the slice (franks), or a gyro (Niko Nikos) or mayB a good burger at the hub cap grill on prarie st., enjoy an outdoor picnik in the square downtown with the family. Visit discovery green and walk with the kids around the park, just enjoy the inner city for a couple days. If you like outdoors B sure 2 visit MEMORIAL PARK and take the nature trails, something in the city unlike almost anything i have ever seen anywhere except muir woods in san francisco, very special. like central park just much bigger and wilder, I promise. Then the second part of your vacation get a hotel at the boardwalk for a night, nasa is only a couple miles away from the boardwalk, so you won't have to spend to much time driving, enjoy the bay area and city itself seperately to avoid unpleasant traveling between the two as they are about 30 minutes apart lastly spend a night in galveston which is about 30 min from Kemah, enjoy the strand, lounging at the beach or go to moody gardens which is INCREDIBLE, great aquarium, indoor rainforest ect ect. Idk why everyone says san antonio/austin when seriously the houston are is a much much more dynamic city overall. I would only pick san antonio if you really like theme parks. Just takes a local urbanite to know how to enjoy this city well, the main rule is DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP CRISSCROSSING THE SPRAWL. Find a few centrally located areas to enjoy and explore them thouroughly, Oh and I must add we have about the most populous zoo in the country, san diego beats us by a few animals were number 2, plus we just opened a new african safari exibit, our zoo is the best ive ever been 2 and i have been to chicago's, denvers, and atlantas to compare. For shopping, cant beat the galleria which really doesn't feel like a mall; feels more like a giant shopping plaza with a glass roof, only mall I like and I hate malls. If not that, theres shopping along westheimer, which is also known as elgin where it connects to fannin and main. There are more shopping areas along post oak blvd. The main streets you need to know to enjoy houston are main, fannin, weistheimer "elgin", memorial drive, post oak blvd. once in the inner loop you cant avoid running into a major freeway if you wanted to "610" so you cant get too lost. Hope all that info helps, enjoy ur visit if you choose to come. I'll post a few pics of places of interest
Please, utilize your "enter" button at some point during all that typing. I want to read your post but it makes my head hurt just looking at it.
