I just hate the word GHETTO! I feel like people are talking about AA!

@A&M - you have to lighten up in Houston. Ghetto isn't a word I particularly care for either but it is commonly used particularly by younger people and it doesn't have the same meaning today as it did even 10 years ago. I think it now more or less defines a lifestyle versus an ethnicity. It really depends on how the word is used in a sentence I guess.

Interesting...

Where is this 'rundown' area you are talking about? Is it near 35 and Main? Are you implying that West is residential and East is more business/residential due to a lack of master planned communities? I am not trying to put words in your mouth. Would like more clarification please. It will help us folks that are still in the planning phase..

In Pearland, SH 35 is Main. It is either north or south of FM 518. FM 518 is Broadway.

My bad, you're right, I meant 35 and Broadway/518. Where is this bad area relative to that?

There really isn't much bad in Pearland - you'll know it if you see it.

Would like to add there are homes on the Westside of Pearland that were established 20 years ago re Southwyck.

Pearland is like most up and coming cities in the Houston area. You have the new master planned communities and the other area that has been around for along time when the population for the town was really small.

There are more shopping locations on the West part, but it's not that far of a drive from the East part of Pearland.

Where ever you go in the Houston area there is traffic.
