It's a standard issue item in most New York grocery stores, but I've never seen it in Houston.

I get it at Krogers. Look for it under it's German name, braunschweiger. Still hard to find though.

There is supposedly a difference between Liverwurst and Braunschweiger (which is a type of Liverwurst). But, I grew up hearing it called Braunschweiger (German family in St. Louis), and have seen it most often labeled as both Braunschweiger and Liverwurst on the same package. It all tastes the same to me, and it can be found at just about any grocery store. HEB has the Boar's Head brand and it's delicious.

They usually come in big long wrap like a sausage so once it is opened you have to finish it up or it will get spoiled after a while. I usually eat it once in a while with bread/crackers and don't want to force myself to finish the whole thing. So what I did is cut it into .25" thick slices, sealed each one individually and put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. When you have a craving, just thaw each one and eat it, at your own pace.

I think Phoenicia has liverwurst under the brand Koenemann's. There may be other brands as well. Phoenicia is a specialty foods store.

Ditto here. The Kroger Signature Store around the corner from where I live carries Boar's Head in the deli, and the regular old Oscar Meyer tubes over in the meat department.

HEB - Central Market and the one in Bunker Hills has it ( look in the imported cold-cuts and cheese section). Fiesta has it too. I don't know exact location in other stores, but when you go to the store in Katy ( IH10 exit Macon), turn right and go all the way to the end of the store where you see the dairy department. Across that is a little cooler and there you will find it among other imported cold cuts, Arabic yogurts/cheese , farmer cheese etc.
I am sure other Fiesta store carry it too, but it is usually hidden somewhere...

So I went to HEB yesterday to pick up a few things -while I was hungry - and had to hit the deli to get some Braunschweiger. (That is lunch today - I'll be thinking of you guys.)

They had it labeled Liverwurst, and then right next to it was "Light Liverwurst - Braunschweiger - half the fat". Not to be cheated out of my fat I bought the regular.

Thanks to all who replied. I've not generally seen it in the deli section, but have found it in the pre-packaged cold cuts area under the name braunschweiger. I had it on white bread with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Now that was a thin slice of heaven.
