Been to Blisswood. Best time to go there is when the wildflowers bloom in the Spring. It's literally in the middle of nowhere, but still very enjoyable. LOTS of places to go walking there.

I am a regular user of VRBO. For Galveston, there are a lot of choices. Other places near Houston... Not so much.
Found some place per a friends recommendation but I also saw this place (
The Retreat at Artesian Lakes 832-397-4008 ) earlier today. They were booked for what I wanted my free weekend but I'll check them out again.
