Default Rates for Downtown SRO's

Am relocte/moving but need to find a SRO to start things off. Price range400-500 monthly or approx. San diego has worn me out and keeping up with the jonses is so over. No wonder you guys have the influx of Californians, its the closest cheapest place to move to within the us. Also can be considered a starting off point (not cheap enough here, lets move on to Louisana, etc) All in all a perfect place to test the "cheaper" waters of life.

you have to go through a formal application process for an SRO here in houston. there are many where you dont pay anything for a few months but those are typically set aside for the homeless. i believe after that period rates are between 500-700/month which typically includes most bills paid. maybe CA SROs are different then here...

last time I worked with someone the wait was 6months-1 year. if you are considered disabled you will get in sooner

if by SRO you mean a studio apartment or renting a room in a home yes you can easily do that in Houston for that price range. but maybe not downtown

No, i meant arrive by amtrak and find one with vacancies. Then i have a time cushion to apartment hunt. We have walk in present i.d. and cash, in my case the lowest i payed for a room with a small bed and sink with sharred bathrooms here in San diego was $495 monthly at the Golden West Hotel 5 months ago. Now im up to 150 weekly or 600 month place. Still shared bathrooms. Still a steal and bargain for San diego. Not something you want to retire at though.

there are a lot of bunkhouses downtown. the do drop inn is pretty ghetto, there is a nicer one just up north main kind of by the salvation army run by a ex PO so it's pretty safe. i believe it is around $475/month but it is dormitory style ie. bunkbeds and a bath at the end of the hall. it actually is possibly closer to $600 now.

if you need a list i can give one to you with the addresses. you cant always depend on vacancies. H-town has a large homeless/near homeless population that keeps them pretty full

TX does not have as good of choices as CA even for cheap
