Looking at places in 77098/Upper Kirby area. Liked The Westheimer (formerly Alexan Westheimer), Gables Upper Kirby and La Maison. Thought West Ave is overpriced.

Has anyone lived at (or had a friend live at) any of the three I mentioned and have any opinions on them? Interested in management, maintenance, noise level, type of tenant who tends to live there, etc. I checked apartmentratings.com but was trying to get some more first hand accounts.

Or if there is another complex in the area that you like, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks for the help

A friend lives at the westheimer. Very nice place. Kinda pricey but nice location.

I lived at Gables Upper Kirby for two years.

Pros: Attractive apartments, good location (nice to be able to walk to Whole Foods etc), ample parking, quick maintenance, gym, professional and courteous staff (albeit with somewhat high turnover)

Cons: Expensive - the major complaint. Minor gripes - somewhat frequent elevator issues, courtyard noise from inconsiderate neighbors

Overall, it was a good experience. But for the price of renting a two bedroom loft apartment I could have easily rented a standalone 2-3 bedroom house.
