Default Does anyone have information on the commute from Cypress to College Station?

Possible job prospect in Colllege Station as an administrator, however wife would be working in Houston. Wanted to know if Cypress was a reasonable option (Part of Houston Metro, 1hr south of College Station) to commute on a daily basis via HWY 6. I have read that the commute to downtown Houston from Cypress can run 1hr or so with traffic so a Coll. Station commute sounds reasonable to me?

Yes, from 1960/US 290, it will take you 1 hour (outbound). About 40 minutes to Navasota, and give yourself about 15-20 minutes from Navasota to south College Station. Traffic around TAMU can be interesting, during the school year.

Depending on how fast you drive, it'll run about 45 minutes to an hour (that's less than the Downtown commute)

Fairfield is one of the "farthest out" major communities on 290 - it is in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

Where is the Houston commute going to? They are expanding the park and ride options in the Cypress area. (Fairfield is a Cypress TX address.)

In the coming years, there'll be many more further out than Fairfield.

The Houston portion of the commute will be more than likely to the Med Ctr/Rice/ or UH area. She would have our toddler so she could car pool and save some time?....

My son and daughter-in-law moved to the Fairfield community in Cypress for just this commuting situation. She car-pools with someone in the neighborhood to her job at TAMU and my son drives into downtown Houston. Their commute times are about equal, although her distance is three times as far. I have driven her route to campus (I'm not a Texan and I drove the speed limit) -- it took me just over an hour. It is an easy wide open drive, at least until you get close to CS, but you should be careful to check your gas gauge as it can be a long way between stations.

Seriously, how long do you think it will take for Prairie view to blow up? Looking into potential land investments.

I get the feeling it will be an integrated suburb in the next few decades.
