Can anyone recommend an inexpensive monitored alarm system company for fire and burgulary?

I second Smith Thompson. And it is a local company, headquartered in Dallas.

Do you have a commercial fire alarm system? If so those cost more and only certain companies can monitor. I recommend American Sentinel Fire&Security for $81/month which includes quarterly inspections and maintenance. For regular alarms Smith Thompson is way to go.

Smith Thompson - +2

pay annually and get a month free

when I used them on two houses (one for sale), after the sale they transferred the unused months from the old house and added them to the contract on the new house

what kind of company does that? One that values customers

So now I'm not only a customer for life, I'm a walking advertising shill for them

But gladly

I just signed up with Smith Thompson earlier this month. The monthly fee is $16.95 plus tax. However, my house is new and I had to pay a heavy setup fee as follows:

Setup Fee $299
Uplink $49 (If you don't have a land line for home phone, you need to pay for this Uplink. If you have AT&T Uverse voice phone for your home, it is not a land line, so still have to pay the $49)
Installed two motion sensors for $158
Installed magnets for all my doors & windows for $80 (apparently, my builder didn't install magnet connection for all the doors & windows)
Tax for the above is $48.35

Total setup cost is $634.35.

Now I can enjoy the low monthly fee of $16.95.

For all the doors & windows that open & close, you need a magnetic connection so that the alarm system knows when the doors/windows are opened or closed. Apparently, my builder pre-wired the house for alarm, but did not include the magnet for each door & window. So, Smith Thmpson had to install the magnet for each door & window which costed me $80.

Oh I see, so basically it if it not pre-wired then the magnets will do no good correct? I had asked for these window detectors and said that they can cause false alarms and recommend the glass breaking sensors but thats very expensive for each room.
