You can search here: HAR.com : Houston Real estate, Houston homes, Houston Realtors, TX Homes
but I doubt that you find many houses over 10,000 sqft 20-40 min. of Downtown Houston.

pssst. Have you ever driven deep into River Oaks(basically downtown) or The Memorial Villages (10-20 minutes) from downtown?

To the OP. If you are wanting to build within 20 minutes of downtown you will be looking for tear down houses. There are some acre lots that are already cleared though.

If you want a clean slate neighborhood where building is all around, you will have a good commute to deal with. But you can pretty much take your pick of any MPC outside the beltway. I'm sure builders would be foaming at the mouth for a chance. But trying to resell that house would take years. There are plenty on HAR.Com,with that footage, that have been vacant for years and never lived in. I bet you could probably get a better deal pre-built.

^^^ I have an idea, but still doubt that many ( if any) of the houses are 15,000 sq ft or bigger.
