Default Leveling Compound?

We are in the process of ripping out our current wood flooring and underneath is leveling compound. I started to break it up and get rid of it but then I was wondering if I really need to. Am I creating more work by doing this or can we just use the leveling compound that is already down and work from there? We are installing a cork padding and also a moisture barrier on our concrete slab before installing the floating wood floors.
Also for fellow DIYers where have you found the best place to buy your flooring supplies at??

Can't really help you with your questions. I had to use a leveling compound when I ripped up my carpet in my old house, and laid down a vinyl flooring. Not sure about your situation.

You will have to send me pics when you are all done!!

When the flooring company removed our water soaked wood flooring they also removed as much of the old leveler as they could. They went back to bare concrete. They put in new leveler. Then they left town. That stuff started cracking and popping like corn when it got too dry. They had to remove it and start all over.

You know where I live! Just finished ripping out the fireplace surround! I am thinking this weekend will be filled with ripping out carpet and tileing a fireplace.

Fun times! Be sure to take pics as you go! We are sprucing up our house, but not work like that (since it's only 1.5 years old!!). Just painting, putting up curtains, etc.

I would love hard wood floors, but want to wait until my kids are older. Plus I have all tile in my house, and it's going to be HE!! to get it up!!

Did you end up getting a For Flex?
