I'm sorry, I don't. I assume you have seen the greatschools website? For some reason I am often suspicious of the glowing reviews on there.

It sounds like we are doing a similar scour of area schools. One that I really liked but found too far from where my DH wants to live is Trafton Academy in Bellaire?. I don't see it mentioned much on these boards but some real life people recommended it.

Happy Hunting, I always say it is good to have options, but they can be overwhelming.

I'm bumping this up because I'm interested in the Branch School. Has anyone toured there? Or have a student there?

I went for a tour sometime ago. The Branch School was very impressive. What I heard and the inside of the building (classrooms) were very impressive. The staff were very pleasant, but it is expensive. I was looking at the middle grades 5-8. They expanded the middle grades out into the parking lot in trailers. There aren't enough students, so the grades are mixed in together. I do find this to be the case in most small private schools throughout Houston that are not catholic. It seems the catholic schools have no problem with having a larger enrollment beyond 3rd or 4th grade as opposed to other religious or non-religious schools unless they are academically competitive like The Kinkaid school. The was another school called Rainard School for the gifted right next door also in a trailer like building. The school is expensive which surprised me regarding the lack of resources they have. At the Branch school the librarian is also the Art teacher as well. Unfortunately, they don't have the accelerated reading program like the public schools. There are alot of private schools in the Houston area. Please be careful in choosing a school. Most of them sell the parents on how advanced the work can be, but if the teacher is not qualified to teach period this is a problem. Many of these schools load the kids up with worksheets all day long that is a year ahead, but they aren't teaching. You don't want to spend money on something like this.
