Hello everyone, glad to find a place like city data... alot of reading and lurking the forums provides great info! Finally decided to post a question.. so here it goes:

Where would you recommend a young couple moving to the Houston area to move where they would have to work in between the southwest area of Houston (Beechnut) and The Woodlands? Looking for a clean low-crime area with good restaurants/activities, not too much traffic, and rent apartment (or townhome) below 800/month.

I've been looking at some apartments around the West rd area in Jersey Village and it seems like a good fit. Some good places to eat and not that far from the Willowbrook mall. Also can hop right on the Sam Houston toll rd. I've never seen this area in person, can anyone vouch for this area?

Any info is much appreciated.. thanks!

if you are going to be working off of Beechnut and 59, I assume it must be at memorial Hermann hospital. You would be better off living in sugarland, richmond, rosenberg, or missouri city because those places would be very close to your job and you will not have to deal with nearly the amount of traffic as would coming from the woodlands all the way to sw houston, which could be 50 miles one way.

I would stay away from living anywhere on beechunt, bellaire, bissonnet or fondren since those are now low income areas with a bunch of section 8 type apartments and housing

you guys are working on opposite sides of the city from each other, so you will both be looking at pretty hefty drives each way. I would say the Jersey Village or a Cypress area option would probably work best since it will be about the same distance to both the woodlands and the sw houston

Can something be worked out to get the two job locations closer together?

Jersey Village would be mid point and not too bad.

I'd check out The Heights if you make pretty good dinero. Cool old-fashioned real neighborhood, great old Victorian houses, and almost exactly halfway.

Leaning towards Jersey Village and the complexes along West Rd. The Heights seems like a fun place with lots to do, but we're both over crowded areas with lots of traffic... plus.. seems you get so much more for your money outside the loop. Although I'm not fond of having to pay a toll fee everytime I hop onto Sam Houston, can't have it all right?

Seems like Stone Canyon apts on West road seems to have great reviews. They're first on my list to check out when I visit in the summer. Anyone have first hand experience with them? The advertise like crazy on craigslist too..
