There are good and bad parts of any option. Decide what matters most to you in terms of your values and then choose accordingly.

You might want to consider renting to test drive an area before buying a house. With at least one relocation, my family should have done that but we didn't. Big expensive mistake.

Median home price in Kingwood is like 150k so I don't think people around here are too elitist except maybe to look down on people from Porter, but they are a bunch of rednecks so what can you do.

i went to HS in kingwood and now live in the meyerland/westbury area. i graduated HS less than a decade ago. there really wasnt bullying that i remember unless kids are really weirdos. if your kids blend in enough, stay out of peoples away, or involved in sports theyd be fine in any private school or in kingwood

if i had kids in school and wasnt opposed to living in the suburbs or being away from the city id live in kingwood again. its a really nice area for kids. all the super rich kids were either really good and quiet or popular sports people that stuck to themselves. the snotty semi rich kids who were popular in middle school were the rejects in high school. that is kind of how it works in a school with more than 3000 kids in it

youll get snotty kids in every school even out in Porter. its kids. youll fine nice smart kids in private schools as well

there is so many more differences between KW and Meyerland that the school issue maybe isnt the biggest one. but you should consider if your budget would include the higher property taxes in meyerland, flood zones, and private school tuition ($7k - 15k)

Vegankris, I think you have a pretty good - open - attitude - and my hunch is that you could make it work and be happy in either Meyerland or Kingwood - good luck - but you do have to promise to keep us posted on how it works out for you!!

Thanks Watchful! I will definitely let you know what we decide. Right now, it depends on the day Every night my husband and I go for a long walk and he gets to hear what the neighborhood of the day is

I'm so excited about our upcoming visit to Houston! By the way, we will have a car for this visit But, I do plan to use your public trans so I can get a feel for it. Houston has so many options as far as neighborhoods are concerned. Who knows, I may come back with a totally different neighborhood that catches my eye.

Thanks to everyone for all the great posts! All the info has been great and has helped me so much during all my google searching.

Take care,
Kris
