Default Kingwood vs. Clear Lake City

My husband and I have our search narrowed down between Kingwood and Clear Lake City. My husband works from home and I can work at any Memorial Hermann.

Which are is more sought after, has better public school's, etc? We are looking for a custom home around $500,000 to $800,000.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

Which one is more sought after depends upon who you talk to. If the prestige factor is that important then I would suggest dumping the both of them for the Memorial Villages area and the schools out there.

Have you physically toured homes in both Kingwood and Clear Lake yet? If not, I would reserve judgement until doing so.

Kingwood schools may as well be private schools. The community adds funds to the schools through donations. Many students from KHS excel in upper-level education, since Kingwood schools are very demanding. My former friend told me she thought college was a "cake walk."

If your kids are in middle school or nearing HS, I do not recommend putting them in Kingwood schools if they come from an "average" public school system. If you do, pray they have good study habits, mental endurance and appreciation for education.

I guess I should had mentioned more facts instead of personal thought.

Kingwood High School - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Kingwood was the 5A recipient of the prestigious Lone Star Cup in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005. Kingwood also won the award in 1999, the first year the award was given. Winners of the cup are often considered to be among the best high schools in Texas in terms of UIL athletic and academic achievement."

"Kingwood is a very competitive school in athletics and particularly in academics. Kingwood's Honors and Advanced Placement programs are rigorous and challenging, but students in these classes test highly on exams designed to give them college credit for their work."

Before they opened Kingwood Park High School the main Kingwood Campus - grades 10-12 - suffered 3,500 students, putting the grand total - when you counted the 9th grade campus - at 5,000 in the high school. Walking in the halls was like rush hour on I-45, no kidding.

Memorial Hermann has a location convenient to both.

Both have excellent school reputations.

If you like trees and/or heading off to the lake on weekends, do Kingwood.

If you like heading to the beach on weekends, do Clear Lake City.

The visual appearance (heavy on trees vs. the coastal look) is one of the biggest differences.
