depends what you are looking for I guess.
I like it there, but i wouldn't live there at this point in my life.
Houses/property are too small (what i could afford), kids would have to go to private school, not much shopping around other than boutique stores.
But i definitely see the appeal for certain people with certain lifestyles. My younger brother and his wife love it and it makes sense for them. And being from NY state, this is the area that would appeal to me at first glance. Old homes with character. Real sense of community, small village like design, not a subdivision or master planned community, mom/pop restaurants instead of greasy chains. All pluses or minuses depending on your needs.

Maybe so, its just when I have driven around there I wasn't all that impressed with. Maybe because its still in transition.

Glad to see another honest guy here.It would be a shame for this young lady to move so far and end up being "single" again. Hmmmm....maybe not so bad? Well anyway all joking aside, many aspects need to be considered before a big move like this is made. Relationships are just one of them.Wouldn't be the first time......."the force can be strong"!!

You're going to pay rent, utilities and bills then go "WOW! We still have a lot of money left over"

I can't imagine the awakening people have going from extreme high cost of living to what is like dirt cheap cost of living from what you're use to.

The weather is no joke or exaggeration. You have to come get a feel before moving because you'll be dripping the minute you step out the airport doors and feel the humidity.

14bricks, the Heights feels overrated because CD makes it sound like the Holy Land. I never realized how "perfect" and glorious it is was until I read comments on CD.

Yes we are in an unusual pattern but the forcasters say that El Nina is to blame.Whatever it is THIS SUCKS !!!! Better look before you leap and visit Texas ( 2 weeks min.) before making any move.

And ditto on Austin being closer to your desires. Also,is your relationship strong? Those Texas women are..........I mean Austin is a big college
town,yeah thats what I mean
Houston sounds like Hell on Earth: HEATWISE.

Upstate ny wasn't much different. NYC area is where its insane.
The big difference we noticed moving here was no state tax.
But then again, our car insurance doubled.

Rent, food, etc was the same.
My electric bill here is astronomical due to AC all summer long.
My salary did go up though, so that was nice.
