Hey all!
I'm new to the Houston area and am renting an apartment. I desperatly need a w/d. What companies are reliable to rent from? I've researched AZUMA, but what about the "appliance warehouse?" Has anyone had any problems with this company?

thanks in advance!

Renting can adds up. You may want to look into Craiglist's and purchase a used set inexpensively. craigslist: houston classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

We rented front loaders when we moved to The Woodlands a couple of years ago from Rent-a-Center. Like NTT says, it adds up.

We bought a used set last year off of Craigslist for 250 that fits our needs just fine. Wish we'd done that to begin with. For what we paid in rental, well, it's way over what you'd get for a gently used set.

craigslist is your place. go to the free section as folks usually upgrade and just give em away to whom ever will move them out of their driveway. Try backpages as well. Best of luck and welcome to Texas, hope you brought some rain with you...

Thanks all! Yes, my complex has community w/d however I've had enough of lugging laundry in/out and since my apt has connections, why not? But thanks, I will look into craigslist.

Here are more specifics:

When I moved to Houston, my stuff that was in the storage unit didn't come till 2 months later.

I rented a washer and dryer from Rentacenter. Nothing wrong with them, and the RAC people were nice--but it was almost $100 a month.

When my old dryer conked out, I went on Craigslist. You have to spend a little time hitting "refresh", but I got a -decent, working, what else is there?- dryer on Craigslist for $50. It's been working well for over a year now.

In the alternative, there are several used-appliance places (IH 45 North is thick with them; there's a small one on Aldine-Bender Rd. near the Westpark Tollway that's owned by a couple of brothers; they are very reasonable and give you a 90-day warranty.

I will ALWAYS check CL first on washer/dryer. It's kind of like a new car; I'll never have another one---too expensive, I'm not trying to prove anything to anybody--let someone else eat all that "new" expense and depreciation.
