Cost of living is cheaper in Abq and it is more beautiful there. Did you know that Houston is not as cheap as most people here would have you believe? Top 10 highest cost of living in the country...but there is more to do here

If it was me, I'd pick Albuquerque. My wife is from there and everytime we go back to visit her family, I always wish we could live there. But the cost of living is higher there and the pay is usually lower. A double whammy. I would have to live in a smaller house if I lived in Albuquerque and I really love the big giant homes in Houston. If you're coming from D.C., you may already be use to the high cost of living, so Albuquerque might seem cheaper to you. Albuquerque has cleaner air and more of the 4 seasons than Houston. If you like to camp, Albuquerque is your pick.

As for Glorplaxy's comment, I don't know where they get their data, but I've never heard of Houston being in the top 10 cost of living. We are usually considered one of the top 10 lowest cost of living large cities in the U.S (if not the lowest). You can google this on your own to confirm.
