As usual, you are totally full of it. Maybe driving through a slummy area and then watching cable TV all night is something that you do, but that doesn't mean the rest of us do as well. I regularly jog (almost daily) and know lots of people who saltwater fish or bike. Why do places like Memorial Park and Terry Hershey always have joggers and bikers all over them if, as you always claim, there are no outdoor activities here? Would it be nice to see the Rockies or Alps as scenery while I'm out running or biking? Sure! But come on, let's be realistic. And no, this is not the only place I have lived, let alone traveled extensively. There are some things these other "quality towns" have that Houston doesn't, and lots of things Houston has that these other places do not. But as usual, I'm sure this will all be disregarded by you and reality and facts ignored since it goes against your favorite past-time of Houston-bashing...
Great post. The more people that bash Houston for things like "there are too many jobs", the greater this city becomes.

I mean really, when the worst thing you can say about a city is that people move there because they WILL find a job - you should count yourself lucky. Many cities in America would LOVE to have Houston's problems.

Houston doesn't compare to places that actually have quality outdoor activities and scenery (hills, mountains, great lakes and/or rivers for fishing, hiking trails, etc.) It's a place to do the 9-5 grind, then hit the slummish freeways and go home, then sit around and watch cable TV until it's time to go to sleep. Most people who are Houston cheerleaders have never been to quality towns elsewhere, and have no idea of what all they are missing.
Houston is a place where you can make enough money to visit all those great places to visit or live if you can get a job there. I've visited and lived elsewhere but give me Texas any day as the place to spend my daily life at a cost that allows me to travel elsewhere as I wish.
